Privacy Policy
Effective October 5, 2026
The short version
- Your API keys, market data, charts and scripts stay on your Mac. We never see them.
- To check your license, the App sends us your license key and a few device details once a day.
- Payments are handled by Creem, our reseller. We don't see your full card number.
- Our website uses cookie-free analytics. No ads, no tracking pixels, and we don't sell your data.
1. Who we are
This policy explains how Buzz Charts ("we", "us") handles personal information when you use the Buzz Charts app for macOS (the "App"), the website buzzcharts.app (the "Site") and our support. Questions or requests: support [at] buzzcharts [dot] app.
2. What stays on your Mac
The App is a desktop app with no user accounts. The following is stored only on your Mac and is never sent to us:
- your data-provider, broker and AI API keys (stored encrypted in your Mac's Keychain);
- market data, options chains and saved price history;
- your charts, layouts, drawings, watchlists, alerts, notes, scripts and settings.
When you use a provider, the App connects your Mac directly to that provider using your key. That provider receives your requests (for example, which symbols you look up) under its own privacy policy. The same applies when you send alerts to your own Telegram, Discord, ntfy or webhook destinations, and when you use Buzz AI: your question, the chart context you include and, if you turn it on, a chart screenshot go from your Mac to the AI provider you chose. Please read those providers' privacy policies.
3. What we collect
| What | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| License check data: your license key, a one-way hash of your Mac's hardware ID (not the ID itself), your Mac's name (which may include your first name), IP address, approximate country (from the IP), App version, and the time of each activation, daily check, removal and refusal | When you activate the App, about once a day while it runs, and when you remove or deactivate a Mac | To confirm your subscription is active, enforce the 2-Mac limit, prevent key sharing, and keep a record we can use if a payment is disputed |
| Purchase data from Creem: name, email address, country, order and subscription details, and payment status (never your full card number) | When you buy, renew, cancel, get a refund or dispute a charge | To issue and manage your license, provide support and meet tax and accounting duties |
| Support messages: whatever you send us, including any logs or screenshots you choose to attach | When you email us or use Report a Problem | To help you |
| Website analytics: page visited, referring site, country, device type and browser, counted without cookies | When you visit the Site | To understand how many people visit and where they come from |
We don't collect your trading activity, positions, account balances, symbols you view, or anything inside your charts. We don't use advertising trackers, and we don't sell or rent personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
4. Service providers we use
| Provider | What they do for us |
|---|---|
| Creem | Checkout, payments, tax, invoices and subscription management, as our reseller and Merchant of Record. Creem processes your payment details under its own privacy policy. |
| Cloudflare | Hosts the Site and our license server, provides cookie-free web analytics, and forwards email sent to buzzcharts.app addresses. |
| Google (Gmail) | Our support inbox. Emails you send us are stored there. |
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users' safety, or as part of a sale or reorganization of the business (in which case this policy continues to apply).
5. How long we keep it
- License check data: while your license exists and for up to 24 months after it ends, so we can answer payment disputes.
- Purchase records: as long as tax and accounting law requires (typically up to 7 years).
- Support email: up to 3 years after the conversation ends, unless you ask us to delete it sooner.
- Website analytics: stored by Cloudflare in aggregate form under its retention rules.
6. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in the EU/UK or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and not to be treated differently for exercising these rights. To make a request, email support [at] buzzcharts [dot] app from the address you bought with, and we'll respond within 30 days. Some data we must keep (for example, purchase records required by tax law). You can also complain to your local data-protection authority.
Where the GDPR applies, our legal bases are: performing our contract with you (license checks, purchase data, support), our legitimate interests (preventing license abuse and fraud, answering disputes, understanding Site traffic), and legal obligations (tax records).
You can remove a Mac from your license or deactivate it in Settings ▸ License at any time. Your local data on your Mac is yours to delete; uninstalling the App and removing its folders removes it.
7. International transfers
We're based in the United States, and our service providers may process data in the US and other countries. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses used by our providers.
8. Security
License tokens and your keys are stored encrypted on your Mac. Our license server stores only a hash of your Mac's hardware ID, uses HTTPS, and keeps the payment-provider secret keys on the server, never in the App. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your license key and provider keys private.
9. Children
The Service is not intended for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update it here and change the date at the top. If a change is material, we'll also tell you in the App or by email.
